9 APPLICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE AS A WRITER

It opened our eyes to diverse ways of doing things with minimum effort in different fields and the writing industry wasn’t left behind. In this post, you will find out 9 applications you should have as a writer to make your work seamless, flexible, and with little or no resources. 

These applications are mobile and desktop-friendly. Also, many are free to use but you can upgrade to the premium package to enjoy more features. However, the free version can suffice and help achieve a lot if utilized judiciously.

  1. GRAMMARLY: 

This is a must-have for every writer. Grammarly helps in aligning your tenses by proofreading and giving recommendations, alternate word suggestions, etc. This application has a variety of features every writer needs.

  1. CANVA: 

This is a design tool used in creating logos, flyers, carousels, etc for your social media page or brands. This tool is very handy and it has features that can save you the cost of graphic designs. However, we recommend you get a professional designer to help you with your design in a complex situation; but for basic designs, canva can help. 

  1. INSHOT:

Inshot is an application that can be used for video and picture editing. It is used in editing pictures to suit your taste. It’s a mobile application that can be used both on iOS and Android devices.

  1. PROWRITING AID:

Just like Grammarly, Prowriting Aid is a grammar checker and proofreading app which can fine-tune your manuscript, making it an excellent read. The major difference between this app and Grammarly is that ProWriting Aid works for only desktops while Grammarly works on both desktop and mobile devices. It is also slightly more affordable.

  1. REV: 

This is a transcription application. It is used for transcribing audio into text. You can dictate your manuscript draft into your phone and then upload it to Rev for transcription by a human. It’s a great app for transcribing even though it doesn’t have a paid version. 

  1. EVERNOTE: 

This application helps you organize tasks, schedule your activities based on priority, and helps to set work reminders.

  1. WORD DOC:

This application is used to write articles, long posts, manuscripts, etc. It makes the written content look professional and creates readability to your audience. It has features that justify, align and centralize your work to your preference. 

  1. FREEDOM: 

Have you ever experienced frequent ads popping up on the screen when you are using the internet? It can be frustrating I know but with the Freedom application, you will be free indeed. Freedom app helps you block ads and unnecessary website updates that keep popping up on your screen. 

  1. BOOKNEY APP: 

The next thing after writing, proofreading, editing, and getting your book cover ready is publishing. If you don’t want to publish traditionally, BOOKNEY is an excellent digital book publishing platform where you can publish your book for free. As it is said, writers are readers, BOOKNEY makes that easy also because they have lots of quality books including free ones.
