Writing is not a walk in the park. If you think writing is just about churning words shabbily, you might want to have a rethink on that philosophy.

As a prolific writer, some habits should not be associated with you, these habits help you become better, informed and give you an edge to stay afloat in your niche. 

Even if you are a newbie in the writing industry, these habits will boost your writing prowess if they are followed judiciously.

These habits are not limited to the below mentioned, but the 5 habits that make you a better writer are strategies to keep you sailing.

  • Write every day: Writing every day tops the list of habits. This habit works like magic. Writing every day broadens and boosts your thinking capacity. Writing every day helps you to gain mastery and in turn, makes you a force to reckon with in the writing industry. 

How do you cultivate this Habit? 

Write about anything that fantasizes/prick your emotions

You got a new gift, write about it. 

You attended a seminar, coaching class, met with your coach, crossed paths with a longtime friend, write about it freely. 

By writing all of these you are building competence in the usage of the word and thought alignment 

  • Constant reading: If you want to become a better writer, you can’t rule out the place of constant reading. You can’t give what you do not have, through reading your perspectives are changed, your imaginations are widened. Reading is an integral part of every writer as it gives motivation and a high tendency of learning new things. 

How do you cultivate this habit?

This habit is the best practice, by creating time to read at least a page of a book every day. 

Read books within and outside your niche, read books on copywriting, personal development, finance, technology, cryptocurrency, etc. 

  • Stay healthy: Writers are prone to depression, don’t be a victim. Your mental and physical well-being should be protected by all means if you want to be a better writer. Taking care of yourself makes you productive “… a healthy body is a productive body”

How do you cultivate this habit? 

Going on exercise, taking a walk at least for 20-30 minutes daily. 

Visit the hospital for checkups quarterly. 

Take fruits and lots of water every day as this helps to boost the immune system.

  • Stay away from distractions: Being a writer, you should avoid distraction at all cost.  From research and experience, it has been proven that to become a better writer you must work without being distracted. This helps your thought processes to be in aligned.

Create a quiet time for yourself, where it will be only you with your thought. Stay away from negative vibes and energy.
